This course will outline some everyday prosthetic complications in private practice when dealing with implant-related prosthesis. Specifically, the common scenario of a loose implant crown or loose implant bridge will be discussed in detail. Common causes and etiologies will be discussed as well as methods and strategies to manage, prevent, and minimize these complications will be discussed.

At the conclusion of this course the participants should be able to:

  • Identify causes of a loose implant crown
  • Identify strategies of managing a patient with a loose implant crown

  • Identify methods of minimizing the risk of a loose implant crown

Beatrice Leung, DDS received her DDS degree at the University of Toronto. She completed a GPR at the Boston Medical Center and a Prosthodontics Residency at the University of Pittsburgh. During that time, she also earned a MPH degree. Following these programs, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. She has been in private practice since graduation. Currently she serves as a part time Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto involved in the undergraduate prosthodontic education. She has been named an Honorary Class Member for three years and a recipient of the 2019-2020 Dr. Bruce Hord Master Teacher Award.
